Brandy's Story
About 4 years ago this beautiful goldy started to come and visit me in my booking office down at the waterfront.
Brandy was part of the crew of the catamaran Y Knot and was loved by all who knew her.
Being a typical goldy, Brandy loved her food. I decided when she became unwell to start buying a lambs liver occasionally and giving her a treat every time she came to visit.
These treats were the highlight of her day.
Sadly Brandy is no longer with us but her treats and her spirit, live on.
David Bones Premium Lamb Liver Treats for Dogs
Our dog treats are 100% premium Lambs liver and nothing else.
Lamb liver can be a nutritious addition to your dog's diet for several reasons:
Rich in Nutrients: Lamb liver is packed with essential vitamins and minerals. It's an excellent source of vitamin A, which is crucial for vision, immune function, and skin health. It also contains B vitamins, including B12, which supports metabolic functions and nerve health.
High Protein Content: It is a good source of high-quality protein, which is essential for maintaining muscle mass, repairing tissues, and supporting overall growth and health.
Iron Source: Lamb liver is rich in heme iron, which is easily absorbed and can help prevent anemia in dogs by promoting healthy red blood cell production.
Zinc and Copper: These minerals play vital roles in immune function, collagen production, and overall cellular health.
Taste Appeal: Many dogs enjoy the taste of liver, making it a great option for training treats or to encourage picky eaters to enjoy their meals.
Low in Calories: Compared to other meat options, lamb liver tends to be lower in calories, making it a good choice for dogs who need to maintain a healthy weight.
It's important to feed lamb liver in moderation, as too much liver can lead to vitamin A toxicity.
Eg: For a 6-kilogram dog, the general guideline for feeding treats like dehydrated lamb's liver is to limit it to about 10% of their daily caloric intake.
A good rule of thumb is to offer a small amount, around 1-2 grams of liver for every kilogram of body weight.
For a 6-kilo dog, that would be approximately:
6-12 grams of dehydrated lamb's liver per day.
It's always best to consult with your veterinarian for personalized feeding advice, especially if your dog has any specific health concerns or dietary needs.
